Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is an island nation located in the Greater Antilles, in the American Continent. It was founded on November 30, 2024, by TropicalFire_. Puerto Rico was the first nation to be founded in GlobeMC's 5th Iteration. It currently comprises the sole town of San Juan.

History

Early History (11/30/2024 - 12/17/2024)

Puerto Rico's foundation became possible after TropicalFire_ managed to accumulate enough money to create the nation, after making a very profitable investment involving speculation of a sharp, admin-induced change in the price of gold. It was founded one day after San Juan, on the second day of the server.

Shortly after the founding of Middlemarch, amicable relations were established, mainly revolving around trade, though these simultaneously created the foundation for the full economic and military alliance that ensued a few days later. Puerto Rico also held amicable relations with the Southern Levant.

American-Puerto Rican War (12/18/2024 - 12/21/2024)

On December 18th, the United States declared war on Puerto Rico, despite the relatively cordial relations, without a justification, though it was alleged that the attack happened as a follow up of sexual assault allegations made by VRILGQD, an American Senator, against TropicalFire_, and because they wanted to tap into the rich San Juan treasury. This marked the start of the American-Puerto Rican War. After a swift defeat in both battles, the United States officially surrendered on December 21 immediately following the second battle. The ensuing peace talks between the leaders of Puerto Rico, Middlemarch and the United States were held in Jerusalem.

This victory had a large impact on various aspects of the Puerto Rican nation, namely, the transfer of the War Chest (46,720σ) to the San Juan treasury, the souring of relations with the United States and the reinforcement of the alliance with Middlemarch.
